Minnesota State Highway 33 is a highway in northeast Minnesota, which runs from the interchange of Interstate Highway 35 and Minnesota 33 in Cloquet and continues north to its northern terminus at the junction of U.S. Highway 53 and Minnesota 33 in Independence.
   Minnesota 33 serves as an important link connecting two of the state's major north-south arteries. Only 19-miles in length, Highway 33 connects I-35 at Cloquet with U.S. 53 on its way north to the Iron Range region and the Canadian border at International Falls, Minnesota and Fort Frances, Ontario. By taking Highway 33 between those two routes, traffic can bypass a lengthier route through the city of Duluth.
   The highway is constructed as a four-lane expressway except for a short distance through Cloquet, where it's located on a city street.
